It is important to set aside time each day for activities that you enjoy. Even a few moments of something you enjoy can help alleviate and minimize stress throughout the remainder of your day. Identify something simple that only takes a few minutes each day, and make a commitment to yourself to do it, day in and day out.

You can use aromatherapy to manage your stress quite effectively. There are certain scents that can help you slow down and relax. Essential oils reduce tension: try lavender, sandalwood or chamomile. Keep a bottle on of your favorite essential oils in your desk at work, in your purse or near your bed – wherever stress hits you. When you have these oils handy, you can easily grab one, and take a deep, relaxing inhale to relieve any tension you are feeling.
Don’t be a yes-man; be a no-man instead. If you always cave in to the demands of others, you are guaranteed a stressful life. Only take on what you can manage reasonably, and learn that it’s ok to say no to the rest. Keep in mind that you are making the right choice if you feel bad about turning people down.
You must think positively, even under difficult circumstances. If you are thinking negatively then things will seem much worse then they really are. As one problem passes, the next is often rolling in. Be sure to focus on being a positive, upbeat person so that you are able to keep your stress to a minimum.

Create plans. By having something you can look forward to, your stress can stop being your focus. Make plans to go see a movie or to go shopping.
